UNC GlobeMed

Our Mission
GlobeMed is a student-led nonprofit organization that aims to strengthen the movement for global health equity by empowering students and communities to work together to improve the health of all people around the world.
ASSADE
ASSADE (Association for Health and Development Guatemala) is an international non-profit organization based in Guatemala. The organization provides critical primary and reproductive health services and health education to Guatemalan children and women. ASSADE's impact on the community is profound - serving an average of 800 vulnerable individuals monthly. UNC GlobeMed has partnered with the non-profit for the last five years and looks forward to assisting ASSADE in its future growth and public health endeavors.

Our Beliefs
-
Every human life has equal worth. Health is a human right and a matter of social justice.
-
Poverty and disease form a vicious cycle.
-
The more power and privilege a person has, the more likely they are to be healthy.
-
There are young people everywhere who refuse to accept the world’s massive disparities in health and feel a powerful responsibility to act.
Our Partnerships
UNC GlobeMed is committed to improving healthcare access and outreach within our Chapel Hill community. This year we have partnered with several local organizations including Project Life Movement, Orange County Rape Crisis Center (OCRCC), SECU Family House and the Ronald McDonald House, the Refugee Support Center, NC MedAssist, and the Red Cross.
